Monsoon Sky!
81 days, 8 hours, 29 minutes, 30 seconds left until the 2012 Monsoon Season ends
Summer in Arizona entertains locals and the lucky visitors alike with nature's most spectacular skies--thunder and lightning storms, sunsets and sunrises, clouds and color and the smell of the clean fresh wet desert!
The Sonoran Desert has two rainy seasons, (and you thought it never rained in the desert) the monsoon season being one of them. As much as 70% of the regional rainfall can occur during summer monsoon. Our Sonoran Desert is considered relatively "wet" when compared to others such as the Sahara.
The summer monsoons are not all doom and gloom, with flash floods and dust storms accompanied by tremendous thunder and lightning and downpours. The storms provide much needed water to the thirsty desert, rivers and resavores!
