After we arrive at Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi from Johannesburg, our ride is nowhere to be seen. We have no phone and we are out of the airport and can't go back in. I decide to approach a security guy, AK-47 and all! I talk to him about our issue and he asks if I am a diplomat? He talks to other airport staff and finally calls our hotel, and is told the driver is on the way... We wait and back comes the security guy, AK-47 and all, who tells us to be patient, that they are coming... Next he brings another guy over and we are thinking this is our driver. He takes our bags, cart and all and we follow--traffic is awful. We fight our way across the street as the guy is leading us to the passenger pick-up area--he magically moves many cars out of the way to get the driver and car that is there for us up front. Finally on our way, we soon arrive at the overnight hotel we booked--good thing we wasted so much time at the airport because we get into the hotel and we wondered how did we get this place. We can't find anything good about it. I think you get the idea that we were not happy where we ended up. We are anxious to get to the Giraffe Manor the next morning.
Julius picks us up (on time) the next morning at 7:00 and we are very happy to leave this place and enter a different and one of the ten most unique places to stay in the world! The first thing that Julius says to us, "The GIRAFFES are waiting for you!"

He opens the gates to take us in and there they are! Oh, my, they are so much bigger when you are this close to them! The manor is big and beautiful, the walls covered with ivy, and the windows big and wide open. We see a baby and snap pictures of all the giraffes! We are greeted and brought into the manor where breakfast is waiting for us us, but before we get to that we notice that two of the giraffes, Jock and Daisy, are almost all the way inside the dining patio where breakfast is served!

We are lucky to be here plus there is only one other guest--it is like we have the place and the giraffes to ourselves!

There is Kelly, who is the mom to the unnamed two week old baby,
Then there are Jock, Daisy, Stacy, Edd and a two year old baby.
Before we even have breakfast we are feeding these big beautiful animals! Handed bowls and bowls of little pellets made with good things for them, we feed and feed but they never get full. We feed them and laugh and laugh!
