Chobe National Park was the first established national park in Botswana and is the second-largest. It is home to one of the world's largest elephant populations--an estimated 50,000. The region is enormous--10,566 sq. kilometers of grassland, mopane and acacia terrain offering a variety of wildlife.
Along the highway near Chobe National Park, we came upon this herd of elephants--with a baby!
The elephants are very protective of the babies--always trying to hide them. Often they tuck the young ones under their big bodies, or turn around and lead them away. Nice butt shots!
BUT, before they headed back into the bush we got lucky with these pictures!
